Now that the Morley mornings are warming up again, it’s a good moment to check in with your body. If winter left you feeling stiffer than usual, you’re in good company. Most of us slow down more than we realise once the cold sets in.
Why Winter Slows Us Down
Shorter days. Colder weather. More hours spent indoors. Add it all up and a few things tend to happen without us really noticing:
- Less regular exercise
- More time sitting at work or at home
- Reduced flexibility and mobility
- Increased muscle tension
You don’t need an injury for that to leave your body feeling tighter and less resilient than it was back in autumn. It happens gradually (which is exactly why so many people only notice it once spring arrives and they try to get moving again).
Don’t Ignore Those Early Changes
A lot of people wait until discomfort is hard to ignore before they look into their options. Mild stiffness in the neck or lower back doesn’t always settle as quickly as expected, especially after a quieter winter.
Paying attention to those early changes gives you the opportunity to better understand what’s going on and consider your options sooner. Spring is a natural reset point, and a good time to rebuild the habits that help you move and feel your best throughout the year.
“After a quieter winter, many people notice stiffness when they return to their usual activities. Spring is a good time to check in with how your body is moving and make small, practical changes.” — Dr Silvio Fico (Chiropractor)
Know Someone Who’s Feeling Stiff and Sore?
You’ve probably heard a friend, family member or work colleague mention a sore back or stiff neck after a less active winter. If someone came to mind while reading this, we’d genuinely appreciate you passing our name along. A personal recommendation is one of the greatest compliments Morley Chiropractic can receive.
New patients can take advantage of our Spring New Patient Offer, making now an easy time to book an initial appointment. Where clinically appropriate, care may begin during the first visit following an assessment.
